An early concept drawing for The Great Hall, my favourite drawing from all of the books, but it felt too stable and perpendicular for the Hall itself, and ended up being used on the front endpaper.

Creepy Scrawlers Ltd. is the creative home of Jim Kay and Louise Clark. We established the Company to encompass all of our creative endeavours, from illustration to embroidery, and millinery to fabric design. All of our work is inspired by the natural world, and we aspire to provide you with beautiful things that enhance your life that you can’t find elsewhere.
Jim Kay is an illustrator and printmaker working in East Sussex, he predominantly provides illustrations for children’s books, but has also worked in film and television as a concept artist.
Louise Clark is a Milliner also based in East Sussex, and recently won the 2017 Bridport Hat Festival Open Competition for her hat ‘In an English Country Garden’.
